The Story Behind
Est. 1875 · Le Brassus
Audemars Piguet was founded in 1875 by Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet in the remote Vallée de Joux — a region that has sheltered Switzerland's most secretive watchmaking traditions for centuries. Unlike its peers, AP has never left family ownership.
In 1972, designer Gérald Genta conceived the Royal Oak in a single night — a steel watch priced above gold, with an integrated bracelet and an exposed octagonal bezel. It redefined luxury sports watches and remains one of the most iconic designs in horological history.
